I have been fortunate . . .

Look, I am an adult and I think that I am sensitive to other people and how they go about their business. I respect people and their private lives. I don't call after 8 PM and I don't call before 9 AM. Hell, sometimes I don't call, I just write an e-mail and I then wait for the response.

Whenever I send an invite via Facebook, I tell the person that I want to be friends with, who I am and why I want to be friends. I think I am rather clear about it. I make no bones about it and the person accepts or doesn't. The only time I don't ask, is if I know the person.

I have been friends with someone on Facebook for some time and I finally asked them if they would do the radio program since they have a movie premiering in late January 2011. In the note, I told him who I was and I asked him to do the program. Within minutes of the e-mail, I was blocked and I did not get a response! Wow. In the note, I even stated that if it was inappropriate for me to contact him via his Facebook account, I asked for forgiveness and if he could direct me to the proper person so that I could contact him for an interview!

I have a radio program that is growing in size and popularity and I believe, his fan base would have attended this interview and would have appreciated the chance to interact with him.

I guess not.

It is not for me to say who it was, but I will say this: as this program grows and as it gains popularity, I won't forget this snub. I just don't forget stuff like that, but I won't be out to slam the individual, but really, he didn't have to be a jerk about it.

Speaking of snubs, I was also snubbed by Michael Hinman from SyFyPortal - he said that he would be on back in 2009 and he just didn't show. Never called, never showed. Now, I see, his radio program is back, yet again. He states: "We're back!" How many times is this now, three, four times that you go away and then come back? Just watch, his radio program will stop again and down the road, he'll declare: "We're back!"

Lame.

Oh and all of my interviews are live, not recorded.

Oh, I also found out that the audience numbers for NDB Media are more than his. I also know because he doesn't state them as I do. Too bad, mine are real, yours are . . . well, small - I guess that is why you go away and then come back again and again. Try again.

Family and Friends

As this weekend comes to an end, I still have a smile on my face. While it may be raining and boy, it continues to rain, I am so thrilled. I figured the weekend was going to be a blast, but little did I know it was going to be this good.

Friday, I spent the evening with my brothers from the seminary, saw several for this time since 1985. Bird Solis! Wow! I am glad that Selva and I were able to get up there in the foul weather. Selva's vehicle broke down, in the shadow of Dodger Stadium, not far from my place of employment - Broadway and 19th! AAA picked us up and after that, three hours later, we then drove north - I should have taken my vehicle, like I suggested, Selva! Great seeing Ignacio, Will, Francisco, Hipolito, Jerry, Bird, Albert and of course, Anthony.

On Saturday morning, not two hours after I got home, we premiered a brand-new sports program - "The Professionals". Lenny Melnick, Tim McLeod and Sonny Clark, joined me and the Big Dog! "The Sports Reporters" had better watch out!

Later that evening, we were visited by my wife's side of the family and we BBQ'd! We had our very own Tommy's burgers. You can buy the chili and take it home! We did and Maggie worked her magic! Thanks Jose, Lizette, Damian, Sergio, Sandra, Stephanie and Stacey for spending a great evening with us! I'll get the money back, Sergio! Playing Texas Hold 'em was lots of fun. Finished real late too.

Sunday morning, I cooked breakfast - I do so once a year and my brave seminary family comes to visit. We met early in the morning and went well into the afternoon. I love you guys! Tony, Stacey, Nate, Jorge, Peter and Crusher! We had a blast and the morning passed so quickly, that we just couldn't believe it by the time one o-clock rolled around.

I thank Maggie, Ariel and Giselle for doing all that they did. I love you guys, too!

Oh, good think the Raiders won. I didn't watch the game, but I am soooooooo happy they pulled it out.

Now, I can't wait to visit with Albert, his family and the brothers that show on January 2, at his house. Disneyland will have to wait for a while.

Thanks guys, I had a blast. I will not, soon, forget this weekend.

Wikileaks.org

Well, it seems that wikileaks.org is down, completely gone. There is a mirror site that is now hosting the information from this site.

While I do not agree with the publication of sensitive and secret documents, I place the blame on the US government that does not have a more secure system, i.e. one that does not use the internet and two, why can some idiot download the history of the US's missives as easily as he did?

As an American, I am pissed, but hey, I am not crying about it other than to say - we better get our security act together. We had better get off the internet, create our own internet for government use that no civilian can access and no user access that can download files.

Wikileaks, I don't agree with you, but I can not begrudge you either.

My grandmother . . .

Today, nine years ago, you left us.

I will never forget when that call came in, late at night. I knew the call, when it rang, it was bad news. Alma told me that you had just passed away. We had just left, not one hour earlier and upon reaching home, we received the news.

I am sorry I was not there when you left us and I do think of you often. I remember your kindness and your love to us all. Flawed you may have been, it was only because your love blinded you to have patience and tolerance for one and all.

I will forever remember how the migrant workers would visit your home and you would cook a meal for them and send them on their way. How you never turned anyone away and how you gave everything you had for your family.

My two girls remember you and still smile when I speak of you and for that, I can only give thanks and regret that they did not have you for more time.

I miss you and still think of you, but you were with me for 32 years and for that, I can only give thanks for having you in my life. Today and each day, on the 9th of December, I go back and live in the memories that you gave me.

I never did tell you that we almost named Ariel for you. Aurelia, she could have been. In many ways, she is you, loving and caring and tolerant for one and all. You gave that to her. We still have that - from you.

Aurelia. You left this earth on December 9, 2001. You still live in my heart and my mind.

Where is the America I knew?

Look, I am empathetic, but really - 99 weeks of unemployment insurance? What happened to the America I knew?

America is about working hard to accomplish something, to make something of yourself. Now, we subsidize everyone and everything! When does it end?

Now, things are just out of control. Don't ask me if I 'feel' for people that are without work. Of course I do. I feel for them the exact same way that 'they' would feel for me.

There, you know how I feel.

Oh, and if you want to borrow money - just go over to Prosper.com - I will gladly lend money via that website. I have, numerous times. So don't ask because I am through with lending giving money away. Yeah, that means you, BAM and Angel Fan.

Yeah, Roger is rather angry right now. Usually, when Roger puts it in writing, he has had it.

Have a great day!!!

English on ESPN and all sports

You may have read my post on Facebook. If you haven't, it's your loss. Besides that, here are few lines that absolutely get my goat in sports:

"We have a busted play."

"He has had moderate success over the middle" and "He has been sixty-two percent successful going up the middle."

"He is going to run him out there to pitch the next inning or two."

"He says that."

 A personal dislike:

"Baseknock to right." While that may not be grammatically incorrect, there is no such thing in baseball, you unintelligible ignoramus.

One thing, that I can state with a confidence level of 68% is: "Athletes that become radio/tv personalities are physical beings only. Their mental faculties are something akin to having your labor force out on strike - nothing happen.

MGM saved?

From the Los Angeles Times:

Los Angeles Times | Oct. 11, 2010 8:10 p.m. PT

BREAKING: Lions Gate Makes New Merger Proposal to MGM Lenders
In a surprise move, Lions Gate Entertainment has made another merger proposal to MGM lenders, potentially upsetting a proposed pre-packaged bankruptcy plan that would hand debt-holders about 95% of the studio, according to people close to the matter.
Lions Gate's proposal, which would give MGM lenders a 55% stake in the merged company, would combine Hollywood's leading independent movie and television studio with one of industry's oldest, but financially crippled studios with an extensive film library.
The proposed merger could also be a defensive move on the part of Lions Gate management, which has been under assault by dissident shareholder Carl Icahn for more than a year.

Meet The Press and Today

The images of Katrina are mind-boggling. I just remember that fateful Thursday, when America could no longer stand what we were watching and demanded: "Where is the help?"

We have all been programmed that in a disaster, we need to plan for three days of supplies. What is not stated, is that three days is the absolute minimum that we should plan to have on hand. The reality is that in a disaster, we need to plan for at least a week.

No matter, the issue this Sunday is remembering what happened in the Gulf Coast over five years ago. I am an American. Damn proud to say as such. I know that as an American, I can expect help when something happens, just as it is in me, as an American, to help others when there is a need. I know that as an American, I will have differing opinions to my neighbors, I will not agree with 'em all too often, but we are still who we are because we believe in our community. Our community is America, the land of opportunity and place where your hard work is rewarded.

Our work is rewarded when we do what we are supposed to do and not expect to get something from someone else. America is the land of opportunity and anyone, anyone can be what they want to be and live the life that they want to live. We do have laws and these laws must be followed and if they are laws that we believe are wrong, we are entitled to judicial action.

I suppose that I had a few more thoughts, but the Sunday morning news shows just killed it. As a person who was educated by some smart people, I am not saying that I AM, I saying some rather smart people did some head-banging to get some awesome concepts into my little TRS-2.3, in that I need to listen. Listen to what your opponent has to say. Engage your opponent, don't attack, but ask for detail. In turn, you must be strong enough to give your own detail and have a conversation. People who yell, are people who are not listened to. Lower the volume, you will be heard unless you are so full of hate that you will either be ignored or followed by people who share your hate.

Why have we come to this point? Hate drives us. How did we get here? No matter, we are here and more importantly, how do we go back? Can we go back?

You bet we can.

How? Let's start listening to one another, let's start talking again. Not over the computer, but in person. We can't listen if we are on our computers all the time. Computers are awesome, but we need to live again.

I dare you. Kill one internet option that you have, and spend more time away from the computer, cable, TV or whatever. Go for a freaking walk to the mall and listen. Listen to what other people have to say and when you have the nerve, answer 'em. Ask them a question. Public conversations are that, public conversations. If it was meant to be private, the dumb bastards would probably text it anyway!

I am canceling Netflix. I am also canceling GameFly. I am canceling one of my digital receivers.

I will now go out today and visit with my mother for a short while and I will take the family with me, somewhere, out there. I will take them with me and keep them away from their Nintendo DS and iPods . . . I know how that go over with them!

I was bored . . .

Conspiracy Theory Link

I was on YouTube and came across a conspiracy theory at Denver International Airport. I have actually been to that airport twice and really, the video is similar in tone to that 9/11 video, "Loose Change", the one full of lies, innuendos and supposition from children that do not read or have time to go to school.

Anyway, have at it.

By the way, here are the lies (a few, at least) of "Loose Change".
